Plaid Cymru Candidates discuss future of rural communities at Denbigh and Flint Show

Plaid Cymru candidates visited the Denbigh and Flint Show yesterday, meeting with local farmers, businesses, and organisations, including representatives from NFU Cymru and the Farmers’ Union of Wales to discuss key issues affecting rural communities.

Among the topics raised were:

  • The proposed changes to Inheritance Tax and its impact on the future of family farms

  • Lack of government action to tackle bovine TB in wildlife

  • The rollout of the Sustainable Farming Scheme and its impact on the industry

  • The proposed Clwydian Range National Park and its effect on local communities

Speaking at the event, Llŷr Gruffydd said:

“Supporting our farmers and rural communities is a top priority. The challenges facing the agriculture sector are numerous and complex. Plaid Cymru has been clear in our opposition to the IHT proposals from the UK Government and we have constantly urged the Welsh Government to act decisively on bTB in wildlife. The show is always a good opportunity to hear directly from those affected so that we can fully understand and represent their views. Plaid Cymru will continue to work closely with farming communities to develop practical solutions that can help our rural areas thrive.”

The visit also offered candidates the chance to connect with local residents and gain a better understanding of the issues facing rural Wales, highlighting Plaid Cymru’s ongoing commitment to supporting farming communities.
